Royal Blood - Portsmouth Guildhall. 27.10.23

Royal Blood played to a show sold at Portsmouth Guildhall last night, it was filled with 2000 passionate and sweaty fans, which created an electric atmosphere that Royal Blood shows are known for. The show was a high-energy rock performance from start to finish. The band consists of just two members, Mike Kerr (vocals/bass) and Ben Thatcher (drums), and they have gained a reputation for delivering a massive sound and an intense live experience. Their performance only reinforced this reputation.

Royal Blood's music relies heavily on bass-driven riffs, and this creates a sheer volume and power of their sound. The band managed to create a wall of sound that can be felt throughout the venue. This, paired with the incredible stage presence and artist-like lighting, really surpassed my exception of the show. I felt like had a very tight and well performance show, there weren’t a lot of long pauses or “low bits”. It truly was 100% sensory overload in the best kind of way.

I could see the Royal Blood were clearly giving it their all and so were their fans in return. This definitely was no matter if you were standing, in seats or up stairs you were screaming at the top of your lungs and jumping around.

I cannot recommend them enough live and if you want to check them out here are a few of their songs to get you started: "Figure It Out," "Out of the Black," "Lights Out," and "Typhoons.".
